“How much does SEO cost?” is the first question almost every business owner asks me, and it is a fair one. You cannot budget for something nobody will put a number on.
So let me put numbers on it. Below are the real 2026 price bands for SEO in Pakistan, drawn from published Pakistani research – not my guesses – plus what each band actually buys you, which pricing models exist, and how to read a quote without getting burned.
The short answer
For 2026, realistic SEO pricing in Pakistan looks like this:
- PKR 15,000 – 30,000/month: automation vendors. Not real SEO. Avoid.
- PKR 40,000 – 80,000/month: competent freelancers and independent consultants. One skilled person, focused scope.
- PKR 80,000 – 150,000/month: small local agencies running your full programme.
- PKR 150,000 – 300,000/month: specialist agencies for competitive niches like e-commerce, healthcare, and real estate.
- PKR 700,000+/month: overseas agencies. Rarely sensible on a Pakistani SME budget.
These bands come from two published Pakistani sources: WeProms Digital’s 2026 pricing research and Softcrust Digital Experts’ freelancer-vs-agency guide. I will link both at the end. I am not inventing these numbers; I am reporting what the market publishes.
What each price band actually buys
PKR 15,000 – 30,000: the automation trap
Vendors at this price survive on volume and software. Your site gets submitted to directories by a tool, thin spun articles appear somewhere, and a template report lands in your inbox each month. WeProms makes the arithmetic impossible to argue with: Ahrefs Lite alone costs about USD 129 a month – roughly PKR 36,000. A vendor collecting PKR 15,000 cannot even subscribe to the tools the work requires.
This is not cheap SEO. It is the most expensive marketing money you can spend, because it returns nothing while burning the months your domain needs to mature. Worse, some of these vendors build spammy links that can earn you a Google penalty – and then charge you to “fix” it.
PKR 40,000 – 80,000: the competent freelancer band
This is where real, honest SEO starts in Pakistan. At this level you get one experienced person doing focused work: a technical audit with actual fixes, keyword research mapped to your pages, on-page optimisation, Google Business Profile work for local businesses, and monthly reporting you can verify.
What you do not get is a team. One person cannot simultaneously rebuild your technical foundation, publish eight content pieces, and run outreach. If your scope is focused – and for most local businesses it is – this band is the best value in the market.
PKR 80,000 – 150,000: the small agency band
Here an agency manages your full programme: technical SEO, content creation, and link building running in parallel, with structured monthly reporting. Most Pakistani SME engagements settle in this range, according to WeProms.
The variance between agencies here is enormous, though. At PKR 100,000 a month, a fair package includes a documented technical fix queue, four to eight optimised content pieces targeting specific queries, keyword tracking, and a monthly report tied to enquiries – not just ranking screenshots. If a quote at this price cannot name its monthly deliverables in writing, the price is not the problem.
PKR 150,000 – 300,000: the specialist band
Competitive niches – e-commerce, healthcare, real estate, national-level keywords – need senior strategy and higher output. Specialist agencies charge accordingly. For a single-location shop or a low-competition local market, this is overkill. For a Karachi e-commerce brand fighting national competitors, it is the realistic entry point.
PKR 700,000+: overseas agencies
American and European agencies start around PKR 700,000 a month. You get process depth and brand-name reassurance – and you pay first-world overhead from PKR revenue. Backlinko’s pricing research finds emerging-market rates run three to five times below US rates for comparable scope. Unless you are an enterprise with compliance requirements, this rarely makes sense.

The global context (why Pakistan is good value)
Ahrefs surveyed 439 SEO providers worldwide and found an average retainer of USD 2,917 a month – about PKR 898,000 at current rates. The single most common band globally is USD 501 to 1,000 (roughly PKR 140,000 to 280,000).
Put that in perspective: a Lahore business paying PKR 150,000 a month is buying roughly what an American mid-market firm pays several thousand dollars for. Pakistan’s SEO market is genuinely good value – if you hire someone competent. The arbitrage only helps if the work is real.
The three pricing models, and when each fits
Monthly retainer. A fixed fee each month for an agreed package. This is Pakistan’s default model – owners like predictable billing, providers like predictable revenue. Fits ongoing SEO programmes. Insist the contract names monthly deliverables, not adjectives.
One-time project. A fixed price for bounded work: a technical audit, a keyword map, a site migration plan. Project work in Pakistan typically runs PKR 10,000 to 40,000 for audits and research, more for migrations. This is the smartest first purchase – it shows you how a provider thinks before you commit to months of fees.
Hourly consulting. Rare in Pakistan, common internationally (global average around USD 111/hour per the Ahrefs survey). Fits narrow questions: a second opinion before a relaunch, an hour reviewing a penalty. If someone offers this locally, it usually signals seniority.
How to read an SEO quote without getting burned
When quotes land in your inbox, run these five checks before comparing numbers:
- Does it name monthly deliverables? “4 optimised articles, technical fix queue, monthly report” is a quote. “Complete SEO services” is a wish.
- Does it name the tools? Ahrefs, Semrush, Search Console, Screaming Frog – real work leaves tool-shaped evidence.
- Does it state what is excluded? Paid links, guaranteed rankings, and mass directory submissions have no place in an honest proposal. If any appear, walk away whatever the price.
- Is there a timeline with checkpoints? Serious providers set 30/60/90-day milestones. SEO takes three to six months to move revenue; anyone promising page one in 30 days is selling something else.
- Can you verify the reporting? Reports should tie to your own Google Analytics 4 and Search Console, not just their screenshots.
Then do the break-even math WeProms recommends: monthly fee divided by profit per order equals the extra orders the campaign must generate. A PKR 120,000 retainer against PKR 2,100 profit per order needs about 57 extra orders a month – roughly two a day. If that number looks absurd against your current volume, the fee is wrong for your business, not necessarily dishonest.

What about my own pricing?
I publish my prices openly on my pricing page – no “request a quote” games. Whoever you hire, favour providers who do the same. Secret pricing is where bad surprises live, and in my experience the providers most reluctant to publish prices are the ones with the most to hide about what the price includes.
If you are not ready to pay anyone yet, start with my free SEO audit. It costs nothing and tells you exactly what your site needs – which also tells you which price band you belong in.
Frequently asked questions
How much does SEO cost per month in Pakistan in 2026?
Published Pakistani research puts competent freelancers at PKR 40,000 to 80,000 a month, small agencies at PKR 80,000 to 150,000, and specialist agencies at PKR 150,000 to 300,000. Most SME engagements settle between PKR 80,000 and 150,000.
Is PKR 20,000 per month enough for SEO?
No. At that price you are buying automation – directory submissions and spun content – not optimisation. The professional tools alone cost more than the retainer, and cheap link schemes risk a Google penalty that costs far more to clean up.
Should I pay monthly or per project?
Start per project – a paid audit is the cheapest way to test a provider. Move to a monthly retainer once you have seen how they think and work. Avoid long lock-in contracts; a confident provider offers month-to-month.
Why do overseas agencies charge so much more?
Overhead: salaries, offices, and account layers priced in dollars or pounds. Backlinko’s research shows emerging-market rates run three to five times below US rates for comparable scope. You are mostly paying for their cost base, not better SEO.
How long before SEO pays for itself?
A new campaign usually needs three to six months before revenue visibly moves. Work out your break-even order count before signing: monthly fee divided by profit per order. If the required orders look unrealistic, renegotiate the scope or the fee.
